RE: General Games Chat
Finally put out that pathfinder thread! Sorry for the delay. I had to dedicate pretty much all of my creative energy to a performance I put on this weekend, which forced me to put writing out a lot of these details on the backburner, though i've still spent a decent amount of time hammering down the final setting details and working up to feeling (somewhat) satisfied with the amount of worldbuilding i've put into it. Now that that's over and done with, I should have plenty of time to work on this.

RE: General Games Chat
Doing an interest check in a freeform-rp type game with a bit of character creation stuffs (because I want the PCs to at least be vaguely balanced in relation to each other dangit!).

Working title is TUESDAY AFTERNOON LIVE where a bunch of people have been abducted from all over the multiverse for shits, giggles, and shenanigans to compete in the most (and at the same time least) rated show this side of Zyvxland. They will compete in cooking, foot racing, parkour, deathmatches, quiz shows, homicide (may or may not actually do this one), deserted island survival, alien invasion survival, and many more! (Thinking of having people being able to submit with their apps what kind of contests they would like to see their characters to compete in.) In case of death, we have our very own (very stoned) reaper on hand for quick revivals.

Character creation would be as follows, everyone gets Five Major Traits, a Major Trait can be broken down into Two Moderate Traits or Four Minor Traits. Two Major Traits can also be combined into One Mega Trait which you can only have one of. A Trait is just something that defines a piece of your character, be it their innate magical power, their ninja-ness, a skill they have, what awesome equipment they have, super powers, some sort of awesome racial ability, etc, etc. The level of the Trait determines how powerful (and/or broad) that Trait is, though in general the more ground a Trait covers, the less powerful using just one thing that that trait can cover will be. (So if you have NINJA SKILLS then your STEALTH SKILLS would be weaker than someone who has pure STEALTH SKILLS).

Though I have a feeling if I'm going for full shenanigans mode, I might want to allow completely freeform character creation as well.

... if that makes sense.

The way you set it up translates to this. You have 20 points to spend on skills. Skills must be spent in intervals of 1, 2, 4 and 8. Only one 8 point skill is allowed.

chrisclark just combine homicide with something else

like cooking

"I like servin' up my opponents with a side of mash pataytaz"

or alien invasion survival.

Or combine all three!

I kinda want to run either a GURPS dungeon fantasy and/or basebuilding games again. One thing is certain, today I'll put up a game design thread for basebuilding games in general.

Also lootcaps will wrap up soon as it barely has any activity. Don't know about Noon, but in the last weeks only one person sent in orders and/or diplomacy mesages, and I know of only one player who told me that they are busy... ;-;

It is time time

Poll for interest: An SF game where the basic premise is that you were some of the cryogenically frozen colonists on a slower-than-light spaceship. When you get unfrozen at the destination, there is Bad News - aliens with FTL attacked Earth.

I'm really excited about how the Mystery Gameboard is going so far. I've seen this sort of thing get completely ignored in the past, and it makes me really happy to see people taking such an interest in it already.

Everyone, while Beatrice von Karma might get a little snippy when she answers sometimes, know that you're doing well!

Yeah. I am planning to end it after the last of the current plot threads resolve, which is Ruthie's gun, dumping the temple after looting it of its Artifact, and the final confrontation of Don Key, and then it would enter the epilogue. I would like to get to the end of it, so it will be around for a few months.

Meanwhile, I'll need help with PROJECT D.O.R.F.

I may be hosting a small game sometime soon (on the weekend??). Not sure what it is going to be yet, but I have been playing an old Fire Emblem game + Heroes of Might and Magic IV, and I think I want to make a "less serious" strategy game? With ridiculous armies or something.

Anyways, how many people might be interested? Because I will design the game so that about that many people can play.

First of all, I can't believe I didn't say I was interested in that.

Secondly, I'm thinking of doing another Steam Game Giveaway but I'm not sure I'd be up to managing it entirely on my own. Anyone who'd be into co-running it/running it with me as a backup host? Also, here's your notice that the Giveaway will probably be happening so if you want to pick something up during the winter sale and contribute here's your forewarning.

Speaking purely as an observer, i think maybe overly vague descriptions, a powerlevel that allowed barely any actual progress to be made, and a general lack of things happening were the primary contributors.

Also what felt like deliberately-malicious interpretation of actions+virtually no feedback on what actions did.

like I thought it was obvious when I dumped a bunch of power into the grass I was trying to do stuff that was vaguely similar to the stuff that worked before.

(Did stuff work before? That wasn't even clear. maybe it never did anything beneficial ever.)

I posted a new RP yesterday and there doesn't seem to be much interest in it.
I'm wondering if this is down to slow board traffic or the theme not gelling with the community. Like what could I do to make it more appealing.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I liked the setup and was planning on submitting an application within a few days after I got home from vacation.

Sometimes creating a good character takes a bit of time, maybe just wait a week or so and see how many people are interested then.

Yeah you can do whatever. I'd prefer it if the characters were more weird than lolrandum but the point of the RP is to be entertaining. So I wouldn't complain.

Anything between 4-10 characters. Like typical D&D group size.
I done the online GM shit before so there shouldn't be anything to worry about update-wise. It's gonna update whenever someone interacts with an NPC or the environment in a significant way. It's better to do it on a case by case schedule instead of a timed one because timed schedules make people drop off quicker. I seen it happen all the time yo.

aaaaaaaaaah I'm back! Really sorry to everybody whose games (I think it was just two, but still) I was in, I really didn't mean to disappear like that. But college app stuff and school and a suddenly super packed schedule kinda pushed forum going activities out of my mind. And me finally picking up Nuclear Throne and Risk of Rain didn't help any.

Yeah, that was all my b, but I'm back and I hope that I can remember that this place exists and play some mega hype games and stuff.

I got another crazy idea: A forum game where your actions design basically design a game in RPG Maker (which you will of course, be able to play if things go as well as I think they will) Who would be interested in something like this?

Disclaimer: It might not be very good.

I should be pointing out that I will be doing all the actual work myself. The players of the forum game would probably be sort of like god characters in the games lore, and do stuff like decide how geographical features should be set up, what kind of monsters appear etc.

Ideally I would want 8 Players (4 Civs, 4 Gods) but the activity level of the forum is looking very bad, I might have to make do with less.

I don't want to make a separate thread just to see it closing before starting, so I would like that everyone interested in the game to speak up so I can see if it's viable.
