A NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHES

Name: APOLLO日光の男99

Class: APOLLO is a TRAINED BEAM SAMURAI. Unfortunately he pawned off his beam katana for some space weed and now only has his laptop with his SICK JAMS saved in Fruity Loops. (Technical, specialty: musicmaking)

Bio: Apollo hails from the planet ZYGORVIAS, a world that never culturally advanced past the nineties. Ruled by the evil dictator BILLクリントン93-00, the people of Zygorvias are pacified by his SAX MUSIC and AESTHETICALLY PLEASING ADVERTISEMENTS as BILL wages an ETERNAL RESOURCE WAR on a nearby planet. The people mostly think this is lame, but they're too nihilistic, depressed, or apathetic to really do anything about it.

APOLLO grew up with the realities of wealth inequality, hard-to-afford college tuition, and bad job prospects as an every day reality. It was sort of a bummer.

When he turned 18, he was drafted into the Beam Samurai Corps. where he met a fellow soldier named SHINJI明日香村93. SHINJI taught him techniques that improved his RADICAL TUNES at least tenfold and allowed him to better express his apathy toward the shallow lies of the capitalist system. Feeling he owed SHINJI for this, APOLLO accepted an offer from his friend to join the ANTI-BILL RESISTANCE, mostly because he was pretty sure it wouldn't take much work.

Unfortunately, his name was drawn from a hat and upon leaving service he was ordered to take part in a mission to leave the planet and get a lot of money to overthrow capitalism or something. Fairly peeved but accepting the fairness of a totally random system, APOLLO agreed.

After drifting through space sort of aimlessly and running out of gas money, he made an emergency landing on this world and immediately got arrested for 1. illegally crossing the atmosphere and 2. having an entire trunkfull of space weed.

Chrometallica joins the rest of the group. Her backflip is pretty sweet. (14)

Taava looked around, finding a few coins and some dust on the floor, but not much else. (10)

Vyk goes upstairs, but not particularly quietly (7)

Magnus grabs the keys and sees that the next cellblock is mostly empty. There are two cells with occupants, plus a skeleton in the third. (11)

Limburr grabs a couple cards, but the rest fall to the floor. Giant tree-people are also not really quiet when climbing stairs (7)

Dr Wyrm is somehow sneaky, despite squeezing past a bunch of people to go upstairs (14).

All of the people upstairs see a corridor that stretches to the left and right. There seems to be a corner off to the left nearby.

In the two cells there are two new contestants!

One is a pointy-eared, somewhat pale-skinned elf who looks very shifty. She is currently looking around the room from behind bars, wary and worried that she maybe stole from the wrong guy.

The other is a strange statue who nevertheless seems to be alive. He has a device which is made of a material unknown to "Magnus", and appears to be confused.

Taava levels up! As a Magic Type, he has a 50% chance to learn or improve a spell or magical ability, a 40% chance of improving a physical stat, and a 10% chance of learning or improving a skill. Taava improves a physical stat (90). Taava gains 1 toughness (73)!

Apollo, Fa'at, and Magnus talk for a bit!

Taava gets some QUALITY DUST, and heads upstairs, but there's no skeleton to punch there! (16)

Chrometallica attempts to sneak around the corner.... and then trips on what appears to be a pressure plate. It goes into the floor with a loud click, and then trumpets and drums start playing. You hear the shout of guards running down the corridor. They'll be on you in instants! (1)

Dr Wyrm is slightly sneakier, but the loud noise and bare corridor makes it hard to hide (4).

Vyk heads the other way, but hears guards coming from there too (3).

Magnus unlocks the cells, but doesn't find much of interest apart from the skeletons. (10)

Fa'at searches for some useful items, and finds a sturdy-looking thigh bone. Better than nothing, eh? (11)

Apollo tries to play a song, but opens the wrong program. By the time he gets the audio, the settings are somehow off... well, anyway, a lot of battery was wasted getting the darn thing to work right. (3)

Limburr is a much better sneak then the rest of the lot. Too bad there's nowhere to hide... (8)

Fa'at grabs the thigh bone and heads out. She hears the guards approaching upstairs. (11)

Magnus manages to catch up and get upstairs (10).

Vyk presses against the wall and becomes harder to see. Someone who knew where to look would find him, but for now he is safe® (13).

Limburr is a large tree and utterly fails at hiding in ambush (2)

Taava can't really find cover, so he's just kinda standing in the corridor with fists up (8).

Dr Wyrm starts drumming away. Somehow, almost miraculously, the sound of the alarm dims due to INTERFERENCE. You can still hear the footsteps of the approaching guards, but they probably won't be getting any reinforcements. (19)

Shaking a laptop does nothing, Apollo. He's just kind of standing there in the back of the group. (3)

The guards come around the corner. There are six enemies to face! Prepare orders for combat.

Magnus sighs and shakes his head at the people petrified before him.

"Typical."

He casts the same spell at Maxine. She manages to resist the worst of the effect, but is horribly burned for 13 damage and dies anyway (18). Magnus then throws a multicolored orb at Avery, who takes 13 damage as he is encased in stone (15). He then chants some dark words, and Torment is skewered by shining knives for 15 damage (11). The skeleton falls to pieces in the absence of its dark master.

The real Magnus Illkor re-arms with one of the guard's weapons, and possibly the armour if it fits.

He's also getting better at melees, and now knows the best places to hit enemies (and be hit) to keep equipment in one piece.

Skill: Master of Arms - Magnus has a 25% to avoid damaging a piece of equipment when it's used for its intended purpose.

Dr Wyrm's drum solo is amazing. Everyone feels much better, and probably will be more successful in life after hearing that. (19)

Fa'at goes to take a baton, but she has a fit of clumsiness and drops it several times before finally getting one. The baton loses 1 durability (5).

Magnus learns a skill, applying what he's learned to make him 20% less likely to damage his equipment. He also grabs a baton (11).

Taava also fumbles a baton. Damn. The armor can't be torn off either (4).

Vyk finds a few coppers, not very much really. (8)

Chrometallica saunters around the corner. The hallway seems empty. There is a large door ajar on the left - the warm light of a fire dances on the wall through the crack. (15)

Limburr grabs the armored guard as a weapon. That's kinda gross. (15)

Apollo has a hard time dropping beats when there is an AMAZING DRUM SOLO. Too bad, that drumming is sicker than any beats Apollo has dropped recently (2).

Fa'at was sort of embarrassed at herself. She was usually much better than this. Here she was, going to look like an absolute CHUMP in front of all these adventurers. She didn't want to look like anything. She didn't want them to even know she was there! Much less the garbage pick pocket she was going to look like if she kept this up! She would stay toward the back of the group going with the weird wizard guy. At least she had some tougher looking chumps to potentially take out problems for her.

Magnus Illkor appears upstairs, very disappointed at the people standing around doing nothing after the fight.

"You fools! For this you shall be destroyed."

Limburr takes a blast of fire to the face. Surprisingly, he is not reduced to ash despite being a tree. (17, 8 dmg.)

Magnus finishes the job with a magic axe. Chop chop. (19, 2 dmg).

Next, Chrometallica the dragon is shrunk down to the size of an ant and squashed by a giant boot. (7)

Magnus's eyes alight on Dr. Wyrm. "Ho ho, I see you have mastered the feat of infinite items. Nevertheless, this shall be your downfall. So as I pray, 'Unlimited Drum Works!"

Dr Wyrm is impaled from all directions by a barrage of sharpened drumsticks. He is lifted into the air, bleeding from multifarious wounds (3).

Magnus finally looks at APOLLO日光の男99, and speaks a single dread word. The earth opens up, and the sounds of saxophone music and the screams of the proletariat suffering under the boot of capitalism rise from the pit of hell. Out of the dark wound in the world steps a familiar face - BILLクリントン93-00, Dictator of ZYGORVIAS.

"Thanks for locating this one. I've got something special planned for him."

Though APOLLO日光の男99 tries to ward off the evil with RADICAL TUNES, it is no match for the dread Sax, and his laptop flies out of his hands, shattered and defeated. As APOLLO日光の男99 slumps in defeat, BILLクリントン93-00 lifts him over his shoulder and departs whence he came. (1).

That done, Magnus looks over the four survivors.

"You'd better not be slacking off, lest I do the same to you. Now begone! You've tarried too long in this dungeon, so consider this a gift from me."

He taps the stone wall, and a staircase forms. At the top is the light of the oustide world.

"You can either go out into the world outside this prison, though you will still be in my game-dimension, or continue your escape here and claim the artifact of my lieutenant Borholt the Bold, who awaits you at the top floor. It is your choice. Though I warn you, the contest is not over yet! Whatever path you take will be filled with danger, and in the end only one of you will survive! MWA HA HA HA HA!"

With that, he disappears in a puff of smoke.
