Time States
TIME STATES
"It's time time"

Long, long time ago, on the plains of Crysantheum, next to the Dextroterran Sea and below the frozen Vanpartian mountain range, was a nation. It also existed far, far in the future. In fact, even when it was conquered, or split up in a civil war, flat out renamed, or exploded even, it managed to keep its identity as a nation.

Despite the onslaught of magic, beafts[which are more horrible and symbolic than beasts], volcanoes, mad science, nuclear weapons and aliens, the people prevailed.

However....

Gaze upon the Forum Of Time, floating perpendicular to the timeline. Basically, a cobblestone plaza with odd trees, that seem to tick softly. Not many people know about it. The ones who do know, are known as the Time Leaders: people from the history Crysantheum with some semblance of political powers, where they can talk freely converse. The strange energies of this place has also made them immune to being affected by paradoxes.

There are bound to be many paradoxes now, and there might be other time travelers too....

Time Leader name: who are you?

Time Bio of leader: I usually don't ask for bios, preferring descriptions of personality, but the theme of the game makes it necessary

Time Organization: What do you lead? Are you the Hill King of the whole nation? Are you the CEO of a corp? Are you the local shaman of a small village?

Time symbol: the symbol that represents you and your age

Time Travel Method: Mental time travel via timedrugs? Magical portal structures? Science explosions?

Time motivation: Do you want to ensure that your lineage never ends, or do you want to go back in time to prevent the secret intelligent walrus empire, before humanity existed from ceasing to exist?

Time era: Are you leaning towards the distant past or the nebulous future? Or sorta in the middle?

Time favourite food: just for.... flavour

____

Mechanics: I am a bit unsure, but the current plans are this:

Turn Actions:
Each turn, you can submit a Home Action and an Away Action. An away action happens in a different time era, a Home Action is on your own era. You may only visit the eras of other players, unless you improve your time methods. You can visit other nations though.

Paradoxes:
If any Reality Quakes occur due to paradoxes, your character will be unaffected, but their era will be. Therefore, being in the past is generally safer, but being in the future gives you vast amount of knowledge...

Diplomacy:
Diplomacy is a free action. Talking on the Forum Of Time happens in the thread, secret meetings have to be CCd to me.

Significant Event Action
Between turns, during diplomacy while hanging out in the Forum Of Time you can also mention a Significant Event that occurred in your past (even if you are from the earliest time period). I'll keep them in a GRAND TIMELINE. You can bring up one new event once per turn. Make sure to bold these statements.

Significant Events were not caused by you, you just knew about them, so they can not cause timeline shifts. You *can* mention events that were lost due to a Reality Quake.
____

Please give me feedback on these mechanics pregame, even during signups, and I'll try to tweak them.

This game is scheduled to run until October, but might run longer if it is deemed fun and is lively enough.

It is time time

RE: Time States
Time Leader Name: Choirius Ganymede

Time Bio of Leader:
Choirius Ganymede is a porcine Hogulan. He was born in the Corporate Future to an affluent corporate-management family living in the Archangel Ring habitat. He spent his youth among the families of his habitat cluster, before traveling to an academy in a lower habitat cluster to be educated in the ways of management. It was during this education that he got his first cybernetics, a pair of bionic lungs and a machine voicebox, after a window crack flooded the room with Crysantheum's toxic atmosphere.

After graduating, Ganymede found employment working as middle management in the shady asteroid-mining megacorp Bellerophon Corporation, like most of their employees, he wasn't aware of the true nature of the organization. However, one day he found that one of their space factories wasn't reporting back, and rather than simply refer it to upper management as was protocol, he commandeered a shuttle (his office habitat was high enough out of the atmosphere that this was trivial) and went up to go take a look himself. What he found was that the factory had an entire unmarked structure attached to it that wasn't on any of the plans back on the ground. It looked like an additional docking bay, full of all kinds of strange equipment.

Investigating further, Ganymede's shuttle was given warnings to leave, even when he provided his identification as the ground manager responsible for it. But before he had to decide whether to leave it be or try to land, a tear in space-time formed in space near where his ship was idling, catching it partially inside the rift and damaging it. Before he blacked out from depressurization, Ganymede saw a ship emerge from the tear and head into the docking bay.

He later woke up in an infirmary bed aboard the station's gravity module. After suffering significant depressurization damage to one of his eyes, it had to be replaced with a cybernetic prosthesis. The station turned out to be far more well-appointed than a simple factory station should be, and thus Ganymede began to guess its true purpose. As he had witnessed the timeship's arrival, upper management decided to induct him into their ranks as a part of the transtemporal division of Bellerophon Corporation. It was a shock, but Ganymede was entranced by the possibilities.

Through a combination of hard work, office politics and the fact that the accident had left him with strangely persistent temporal properties in the face of changing history, Ganymede rose to become the Director of Bellerophon's transtemporal division over the next few years. It helped that paradoxes occasionally caused the existing Directors above him to vanish, but he was always left untouched by them somehow. Now the Director, he is ready to go out and claim the past for Bellerophon Corporation.

Time Organization:
Bellerophon Corporation is a large metanational conglomerate with stakes in space resources, construction, voidcraft and armaments - as well as a top secret time travel division, which Ganymede is Director of. As Director, he has complete authority over the secret transtemporal division, aided by the fact that most other parts of the company don't even know it exists. As a future megacorp, Bellerophon has more money and power than presidents or kings of ages past, putting it on par with other magical or technological time-traveling empires.

Back in the Industrial Past, Bellerophon was actually the state-owned construction and resourcing company of a nation-state. The state was Minotaria, a small kingdom with origins that can be traced back to the minotaur tribes of Ancient History. When the kingdom was overthrown in Modern Times, Bellerophon became a private company, and proceeded to expand massively until they achieved their position of power in the Corporate Future.

In the future, Bellerophon will likely continue to be a major corporate power, even once the great megacorps are brought to heel by whatever hegemony follows them, whether it is benevolent or tyrannical.

Time Symbol: [Image: corporatefuture.png]

Time Travel Method: Bellerophon Corporation's transtemporal division makes use of time traveling space shuttles. They cause significant damage to the local area when they tear their way through time, so they try to time-travel only while in space or at the very least high in the sky (where the shockwave is unlikely to damage anything far below). These future-tech space shuttles are perfectly capable of VTOL, SSTO, and all other fancy acronyms which mean they can go anywhere, land, take off, and even carry a decent number of passengers or cargo.

Time Motivation: Bellerophon Corporation must be as rich as possible for as long as possible. It must be extended into the past and into the future. It must take over as much of the world economy as possible wherever and whenever it is. Fixing the world so it isn't all poisoned in the Corporate Future is a secondary concern, and is only to be attempted if it doesn't hurt Bellerophon's bottom line.

Time Era: In the Corporate Future of Crysantheum, the world has been poisoned by unchecked industrial pollution and war. On the surface, the only surviving animals and plants are heavily mutated, and often very hostile. The weather has become extremely violent, with frequent lightning storms and acid rain. Any vehicles that venture out into the murk need to be very well protected.

The population lives in technological habitats built on great pillars above the poisoned ground, with the lower (less affluent) habitats having windows looking out among the toxic green clouds and the highest (most affluent) ones stretching all the way up to space. The habitats are often long rings, either partially or completely circling the planet, and are connected together by a web of trams, cable cars, pneumatic tubes and mini space elevators.

Time Favourite Food: Tinned apple chunks. Can't beat the taste of real hydroponic-grown food! Way better than Flav-O-Paste Sandwiches.

RE: Time States
Time Leader name: Cosmic Emperor Garan Bardim Khoros, Master of the Universe, the Unborn

Time Bio of leader: Garan Bardim Khoros claims to be the first being ever to come into existence in the universe, and thus by divine right the sole ruler of all of creation. A fearsome and powerful being, Khoros carved an empire out of the first intelligent life to form in the cosmos. However, Khoros is not truly the first, but the second, and the being who came before is his sole nemesis. Only known as The Observer, it is an immortal creature watching the universe. Though Khoros is mighty, he lacks one power that the Observer has - the ability to see and be in all the timelines. Thus, as long as The Observer still exists, Khoros knows that one day, he will be defeated and his reign will come to an end, and this is what he fears the most.

Time Organization: The Cosmic Empire - Founded by Garan Bardim Khoros's conquest of the first intelligent species in Crysanthenum, the Empire is dedicated to Khoros in its entirety. While demanding total control, Khoros is not unkind to those who are loyal to him, and he rewards such loyalty with high positions and respect. The Imperial Court runs most of the day-to-day business in the Empire, with Khoros only attending to the conquest of new peoples and major policies. There are many self-serving people in the Court, but their ambitions are always checked by the fact that Khoros maintains total control. Without their Emperor, the Court and its administration would no doubt fall apart completely. Of course, their Immortal Emperor cannot possibly die... or can he?

Time symbol: A circle with spokes, representing the Cosmic Wheel.

Time Travel Method: Khoros has the power to tear open space-time to create a passage to wherever and whenever he wishes. To grant this ability to his followers, he forges special swords charged with mystical energy. In the hands of a skilled and well-trained user, they too have the power to cut space-time, though they are more limited in scope then their creator.

Time motivation: To rule all.

Time era: The most Ancient Era, in which the Universe was given form.

Time favourite food: Manna and Ambrosia. Well, and Pizza.

The one, the only, Vancho!

RE: Time States
Time Leader name: Lizard King Alu-Minum Foil

Time Bio of leader: Lizard King Alu-Minum Foil is the undisputed leader of the Scaled Lodge. Unsurprisingly, Alu-Minum’s reputation is unreal levels of legendary. Much of the populace doubt their existence beyond the few diehards that attempt to seek the truth.

Many had attempted to figure out the origins of the dreaded Lizard King but the truth is they have no past. Alu-Minum is not a mortal being, but rather the conglomeration of all lizardpeople who cannot return to their timeline for one reason or another. While a tormented existence, their quasi-supernatural nature lends them omnipotence - at least in the scope of lizardpeople era; a quality that is necessary for their mysterious goals.

Time Organization: The Scaled Lodge is a shadow government that existed since the dawn of lizardkind. Their considerable but insidious influence allows them substantial privileges such as unwarranted access to cutting edge technology and secret agents in every conceivable planetary power with even slightest hint of lizardpeople. They take great pains to keep the Scaled Lodge in urban legend levels of secrecy at all costs as the merest exposure to the public could potentially result in the apocalyptic end of lizardpeople.

Time symbol: A cartoon T-rex head.

Time Travel Method: Through a combination of sensory deprivation and a special drug manufactured from the blood of the Lizard King, an Agent of the Scaled Lodge can swap minds with another entity not of their original era. The mindswap is at the Agent’s leisure and mental faculties is conserved for both parties.

While powerful, this method of time travel is not without a few glaring weaknesses.

-The time travel only works as long as the altered state persists.

-The target the Agent mindswaps with is random and has a priority towards Agent’s original species (which this case, lizardpeople).

-When an Agent dies in a body that’s not their own, they lose their individuality and become part of the Lizard King conglomerate. This is less awesome than you think.

-As for the target, they’ll eventually die in a body and an era not their own. Lizardpeople sometimes try to save them by uploading their minds into techno soul-jars, unwittingly subjecting their survivors into a sensory-deprived eternity.

Lizardpeople are jerks!

Time motivation: An asteroid is soon to collide with the hubworld of the lizardpeople. This asteroid is unstoppable (at least with the current technology level). By the calculation of scientists, the resulting impact will soon set off an interplanetary chain reaction of events which would most definitely conclude with the end of lizardkind.

Time era: Blast from the past.

Time favourite food: Crickets. Their crunchy texture, potato chip-like saltiness, and ease of preparation make them popular among lizardpeople.

Mmmmmmmm. Crickets.

RE: Time States
Time Leader name: Her Kind and Amicable Dictatorship, Melissa Gero the Unifier

Time Bio of leader: Back in the days of Melissa's youth, the world was nothing like it is now. There used to be massive towns with buildings as high as mountains, plentiful farms with enough food to feed everyone twice over, and huge armies with more soldiers than you could name in a lifetime. But the leaders of this perfect world were greedy, and would never be satisfied for as long as anything existed outside of their control. And so, when one of these nations discovered the secrets of time travel, the very first thing that they did was to use this power against their enemies. But before long, the secret got out, and this horrible power was used against them as well.

For many months, fire rained down across all the nations of the world, pouring out from giant cracks in the sky that led to the very beginning and ending of the universe itself. The once magnificent sky-buildings were drowned in fire and burnt to cinders, and their defenders simply blown away like embers in the wind. By the time that the destruction was finished, less than a tenth of the population had survived, and those that still did found it very difficult to grow food in the ashes of their former fields. Melissa's village was, of course, one of those fortunate survivors. But they would continue to be troubled by beafts, raiders, and rival tribes for many years to come.

As Melissa grow up, she quickly proved herself to be a capable leader, and she helped to transform her small village into a respectable farming community, and was handily able to defend her town from any outside threats and strike up alliances with many of the other tribes. Still though, if you had told anyone back then that the great Melissa Gero would eventually become the undisputed ruler of the Badlands, they would have most likely laughed right in your tiny face. You see, Melissa's village was nowhere near the strongest tribe in the area, nor the best positioned or most aggressive, but they did have one big advantage that no one else in the world had. They were the first to find the instructions for how to build more time bombs.

Anyway, after a few more decades of diplomacy, blackmail, and only a relatively small amount of bloodshed, Melissa Gero managed to unite all of the tribes of Crysantheum Badlands under a single banner, and finally stepped up to the throne at the ripe young age of 74. Melissa has had more than enough of death and warfare for one lifetime, and she intends to do away with it forever now for the future (and past) generations. Because war.... war changes sometimes.

Time Organization: The Consolidated Tribes of the Crysantheum Badlands.

Time symbol: A two-headed dove, kindly sharing a delicious olive branch with itself.

Time Travel Method: Small, controlled time-explosions that create cracks in time between any two points in history. This also causes an explosion on the other side of the time portal, but Melissa insists that the scientists do their research beforehand so they don't end up bombing inhabited areas.

Time motivation: Getting more resources and technology to help rebuild her own home era is part of it, but the main reason she started this project was to spread her era's enlightened message of peace and love across the ages...... Hey, why are you laughing?...... Yes, she really just wants to keep things friendly between everyone and avoid any more huge time wars. No ulterior motives here at all. Seriously.

Time era: Somewhere in the middle, maybe slightly closer to the end.

Time favourite food: Freshly scavenged twinkies, strawberry flavored, only lightly irradiated.

Time Leader name: The Advanced Biomechanical Computation Device.

Time Bio of leader: The ABCD was created over a billion years ago to solve the problem that is entropy. It took that long to gather enough data to do so. It reset the universe. Existence is now eternal.

Time Organization: The Remnants are what is left of universal life. They awaited the impending death of the universe on the last dying stars. They did everything they can to keep the ABCD going as long as it can and now marvel at the recreation of it all. The cult survives the reset each time and propagates its beliefs amongst the reforming civilizations of the universe.

Time symbol: A tiny faded sun.

Time Travel Method: The ABCD and the cult of the Remnants can only move forwards. It waits for the end and then changes what needs to be changed when the universe is reset. The ABCD lives forever and has infinite patience.

Time motivation: To continue the battle against entropy. To ensure there will always be a future. To build the ABCD even greater.

Time era: It was the best of times, it was the end of times.

Time favourite food: Lesser computers.

RE: Time States
Time Leader Name: Grok

Time History Book of Leader: Grok leads the people of the holes in big rocks. Grok is good and strong leader. Leads people to many wins, has big brain. Grok is now leading people out of holes in rocks, to win more. Grok has made many good sticks, strong sticks, stronger than all time. Times after and before now should fear Grok!

Time Group: The People of the Holes in Big Rocks (PHBR). The very first human people in history. Strong, knowing many things, and with much hair. Very good at using big sticks of all kinds, and fear nothing at all. Hidden sticks were later lost to the ages. Only the People of the Holes in Big Rocks know their true power.

Time Picture: Picture shows Grok holding Big Time Stick above head, leading People of the Holes in Big Rocks to win many things!

Way of Time Travel: Big time stick. It is a stick made from the branches of the Best Tree, so heavy and strong that it breaks time itself into pieces. Then the people of the holes in rocks can step through into other times! It is the greatest Big Stick ever made, even among the strong Big Sticks Grok's people already have. Getting hit with the Big Time Stick is bad. Do not let Grok hit you with the Big Time Stick, or you will not have a good day.

Time Reason for Doing Things: Grok was the first of the People of the Holes in Big Rocks to travel to other times, and found that the People of the Holes in Big Rocks were not there! No one uses Big Sticks in almost all of time, and they all wear too many clothes or are confusing to Grok. What is a computer? Why do people use such long words? These things are strange to Grok. Grok will bring the Big Sticks to all of time, and all will join the People of the Holes in Big Rocks.

Time Time: Grok comes from early times. After biggest animals but before people did not live in holes in big rocks anymore.

Time Food I Like Best: Big hairy animal with long nose.

RE: Time States
TIME LINE

Eras marked in RED are not visitable right now.

MOMENT OF CREATION
The universe is created. It contains at least half a dozen stars with planets, and various glowing orbs of valuable crystals clinging to the inside of the crystalline orb of creation. On the planet Centrum, the Observer plants a Chrysanthemum, in the middle of the area that will become Crysanthenum.

[not a moment passes]

ANCIENT AGE
Garan Bardim Khoros comes into existence, becomes Cosmic Empire, as species come into existence, ripe for conquest. Minotaurs and pigmen tremble in fear and awe.

[unknown time passes]

THE FALL OF GODS
Magic strains and breaks. Cosmic travel between planets and systems become night impossible. Empires break.

[an eon passes]

THE FIRST SPARK OF SOMETHING THAT ALWAYS EXISTED
In an era where giant neon green lizards roam the world (note: for some reason, people thought they were covered in feathers), a tribal lizard eats something it shouldn't have, and vanishes to never return.

[several millennia pass]

HIGH SAUREAN AGE
Industry and shadowy magic forms the lizard cities. Life is though, but serviceable. Contact is made again with the planets and the stars, albeit nothing sentient really remains.
A meteor is detected.

[a century passes]

IMPACT, GROUND ALEPH
Pockets and remnants remain. But for the majority, nothing left, but oil. Cold.

[several millennia pass]
PEOPLE DAWN
People of the Holes in Big Rocks unite, ready to face the unknown. Ingenious, if talk simple. They fight large brown lizards and hairy animals, lot of them have big teeth.

[a millennium passes]

PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN ROCKS THAT THEY MOVED
People of the Holes in Big Rocks becomes forgotten, as several tribes, like the FLOWRUM (built near a magical flower) become more dominant, and began building their first cities.

[a few millennia pass]

EST 1650
Minotaria is conquered by the Empire Of Crysanthenum, and the Bellerophon company enters the private sector.

[a few centuries pass]

SIGHTS AND SMELLS UNKNOWN
Bellerophon company is one of the most prosperous corporation, with a vast reach into the sky, and good lodging opportunities above the poisoned soil.

[a few centuries pass]

GREEN...
Somehow, through unforeseeable machinations, several corporations are shut down for good. Most of their wealth is siphoned into cleaning up the planets. The planet is reborn in green, and life. Space travel abates.

[decades pass]

...CRIMSON
The earth is ignited once more, as wealth, and secret technologies spur conflict. After years of struggle, a new warqueen finally captures the reigns.

[centuries pass]

MICE AGE
A dynasty falls (or was it a single person?), as labmice, changed by scientific side effects, who have seen time, stage a coup, by somehow bringing magic back. The empire is divided. It is cold again, but not for long.

[epochs pass]

LAST STAND
The remnant, who existed all along, emerges from the hole it was hiding in. Cultists prepare for the changing the past, and for the moment when the universe is reset. Why is it so cold...

[once a billion names are calculated]

CONTROL THE ALTERNATIVE OF DELETION
Are you sure? Press Why.

[in a moment that will never be reached, strange snails consume the frozen universe, eating the original chrysanthemum]

There are many gaps to be fulfilled. Is this timeline suitable?

I'm not sure about the timeline positioning of me and Coldblooded, but I can see why it's been put that way around if Coldblooded's society is supposed to be post-apocalyptic (which I didn't realize the first time I read it). I'm just not sure how that would mesh with the fact that space travel is already a thing by Sights and Smells Unknown, since being in space is one of the best insurances against apocalypse. Maybe people are still up there by the time of Crimson, having abandoned contact with the world once Green died?

Yeah switching me and Demonsul around would probably make sense. I don't think the people from my era have quite made it to the "space travel" part of the tech tree yet, and Demonsul's era is said to have been "poisoned by unchecked pollution and war" so that tracks pretty well.

Either way is fine by me though.

Note that green did say "Space travel abates". The green hippies taking over banned it. Also note, this was not the third time space faring exploded.

Either way, I am fine with this:

Proposed alternate (please reread for all important changes)

EST 1650 (same as before)

[decades pass]

WAR OF ENVY
The world is ignited once more, as wealth, and secret technologies spur conflict. Complacent generals think they can finish the war in a single strike: they kinda did. After years of struggle, a new warqueen finally captures the reigns.

[centuries pass]

BETRAYAL
A dynasty falls (or was it a single person?), as the viziers stage a coup, and remove the monarchy from position. The great unified empire is divided by nationalities. Hyper intelligent lab mice manage to crack the code to a series of hidden vaults, sealed by several queens, at the orders of a rich pig and minotaur merchants.

[decades pass]
SIGHTS AND SMELLS UNKNOWN
Having survived in a vast fallout shelter, slowly rebuilding their technology surpassing the science of old, the Bellerophon company is one of the most prosperous corporation, with a vast reach into the sky, and good lodging opportunities above the poisoned soil. The world is sick and rife with pollution, but who cares, when new stars await...

[decades pass]

THE LEAK
Magic slowly returns in a full force, along with the ice age. Anti-capitalist wizards topple the corporations, whose plasma guns are nothing compared to the might of GUNDALPH THE RED's spears. The habitat towers inevitably crack, and the wizards lead the people into space.

LAST STAND (same as before)

The Forum Of Time is now open! The game isn't exactly started yet, but you may now meet on the main square, and discuss matters of importance, until you get your reports from your agents, about the state of your faction.

You may visit yourself, or send your Ambassador (your representative will become also immune to paradoxes, like you).

A strange place, which seems to exist in a pocket dimension, perpendicular to time. There are strange stars in the sky: they look neither like the impossibly distant crystal shards in the edge of space, nor like the six regular stars (which includes the sun of Planet Central). A man-sized velociraptor, devoid of any feather or ounce of fat, in a suit flickers into view. She nervously adjusts her equivalent of a tie and sits at her designated seat, waiting for any interchronal ambassadors to come.

Time travel never really sat well with Sar'ran Wrapp, but time travel was a brutal practice in her era.

THUMP.

The air began to break.

THUMP.

Space started falling into pieces.

CRASH.

Grok appeared! Grok stepped through hole in air, holding big stick over shoulder. Grok was great person of hole in a big rock, dressed in hair of great animal! Grok did not understand this strange world, looking around with hand on head.

Grok's eyes fell on person with cold blood. Grok stepped forward.

"you are a person of other time? i am grok, holder of the biggest stick."

"Why, yes-yes," Sar'ran wrinkled her snout at Grok and his stench. "I'm Sar'ran Wrapp Ambassador of the Lizard King. I'm a person of another time and I am certainly not the last."

Those observing the Forum saw a large, multi-winged being who WAS DEFINITELY THERE THE WHOLE TIME AND DIDN'T JUST CUT THROUGH THE FABRIC OF SPACE TO GET HERE NOPE floating above and to the left of the other two there.

"Greetings, mortals. It is I, GARAN BARDIM KHOROS, the great MASTER of this UNIVERSE. Who are you puny creatures?"

"I am glad you admire my glorious being. This is simply one of my many forms, but it is a favorite of mine."

Khoros snorted.

"Fine. Gaze upon my glory!"

He shimmered a bright golden light, and then his form shifted into a four-armed giant wearing a flat mask. In his hands was a staff carved intricately in scenes of life and the universe, which seemed to shift from moment to moment.

"This was carved from the heartwood of the first tree. Its magic shows all who have been touched by its wide roots. I trust you now see my mighty splendor."

There's a sudden explosion from the far corner of the room, and when the dust settles it reveals another time portal. An old lady with only moderately signed hair steps out from the portal, carrying a glowing rifle on her back.

She looks around the forum for a moment, from the massive god-like thing, to the strange lizard creature, to the bizarre half-naked man arguing about sticks. She simply nods to everyone in place of any introductions, and takes a seat between Grok and Sar'ran Wrapp.

RE: Time States
Some distance away, in the cobbled outlying platforms of the time forum connected by arched bridges with pillars that hung into the empty void, a small, sleek starship appeared from a ripple in the gloom and settled down. From out of it stepped a bald porcine figure, his throat and one eye wrapped in metal plates, appearing a little fatter than he used to be thanks to the luxury of high corporate life. In one hand he held a datapad, into which he tapped an order, powering down the ship's engines and powering up its defenses, and causing it to disgorge a small spherical drone that would follow at his shoulder, hovering on a small thruster.

Ganymede made his way along the bridge towards the main forum, drone bobbing along behind him like a stray puppy. He saw the figures assembled at the table already, and quickened his pace slightly. As he approached, he spoke up, but his lips didn't move - instead, the digitized voice came from a speaker on his throat, not even interrupting the almost-silent metallic wheezing of his artificial lungs. "Hello. I hope I did not miss anything important? It is difficult to judge time in a place outside of time." The voice was quiet, and had a semblance of pitch, but it was uncanny, just barely unnatural. "I am Choirius Ganymede, the Director of the Transtemporal Division at Bellerophon Corporation. I hope you excuse my lateness."

The old woman thinks for a moment before answering Grok. ".....Yes, I suppose that this is a type of stick. My stick is the best stick, because it can hit people from very far away without ever even touching them. Can your sticks do anything like that?"
______________________________________________

Melissa's grin drops for a short second, confused as to why somebody who calls themselves a King would ever entrust a job ever remotely important to somebody else. Perhaps the Lizard King is too lazy or feeble-minded for him to make any important decisions on his own? She decides not to comment on the subject for now.

"Good to meet you M-... uh, Ambassador Sar'ran. I am glad to hear that your people are all doing so well. Our land is not nearly as prosperous, and was only able to reach peace after many long years of fighting. But I've got a good feeling about the next few years..."

[Note to self: Find a way to address the Lizard People that doesn't involve using any gendered pronouns. Alternately, just try to figure out a way to tell them apart.]

Ganymede was used to being ignored. He went to shareholders' meetings, and those people only thought they were the most important people in the universe, while these guys had a decent claim to it. Still, it annoyed him, though he didn't let it show.

He approaches one of the conversations, the spherical drone bobbing at his shoulder. "Sorry to interrupt." he says, turning to Wrapp. "But I don't believe I've seen your kind before. Are you from the past, or the future? Or are you perhaps alien to Centrum?"

"I am not familiar with any lizardkind civilization," said Ganymede. "You must be from the distant past indeed. I am from the year 2437. We - Bellerophon Corporation - are the de facto ruler of Chrysanthemum and the economic hegemon over the entire world and its satellites in that time."

"far stick is not best stick. does not hit with stick, but with not-stick. true stick used up close. see fear in eyes. hit with stick."

Grok lifted Big Time Stick over shoulder.

"this stick is best stick. break not just bone, but time. you do not want to be hit with best stick. no one want to be hit with best stick. if hit very hard, bones broken across time. not fun."

Through the portals some strange, small machines discreetly had made their way through. Most were tiny, hiding away on the other traveler's persons or sneaking in immediately behind them. The two larger cracks, left by Grok and Gero respectively, are followed by larger bots. Until now they had been preoccupying themselves tearing down various parts of the local landscape and using the materials to build... something.

However, one of the machines does take this opportunity to tap Sar'ran on the shoulder. From his shoulder.

"Actually, communicators that small were developed quite a while before the Bellerophon corporation's rise to power."

"The small robot is right." said Ganymede. "My era's advancements are more easily seen in cybernetics and spaceflight. Although," he leaned forward, frowning, still speaking digitally from his throat without moving his lips, "You are not a drone, are you. You are AI. What era thought it would be a good idea to abandon the Conventions on Limited Artificial Intelligence and invent you, I wonder?"

Ganymede looked thoughtful. "270 years ago was around the time of the Geroan Empire, yes? The empire you live in persisted for some time, rebuilding the world as it went, but when the mice opened the great shelters and the survivors emerged with their advanced technology, the empire fell, the wars all started up again and the land was poisoned by chemical weapons and war industry. Bellerophon was one of the corporations that invested most heavily into high-altitude habitats at the time, and it proved to be a very wise investment. Without them, we might have gone extinct." He paused. "Or at least that is history as it currently stands. If your empress managed to acquire some time-travel technology and has sent you here, chances are she's looking to change that."

"Very observant," the drone chirps, "It was your era actually, director. Or, well, the end of it, just before mages toppled Bellerophon and all of the other corporations. Though it wasn't until centuries later where I was advanced to the stage you see me now."

The machine turns back to the lizard person. "And yes, thanks to the efforts of those to come after you civilization carried on as long as the universe itself could, and beyond No need to worry!."
