Pirgatori? Purgatory? Google tells me that καθαρτήριο (Kathartírio) means purgatory in greek.

Modern Greek is weird (So many i sounds! η = ι = υ !).

Put some Greeks in there.

The ferryman awakes from the floor of the boat, with one oar in hand and another off the side.

He glimpses a flying kraken. (It's not unusual here.)

Taking out a ration of cheese and onions, he prepares to step onto the dock, in hope of new discoveries.

Are those the natives?

Finally realizing the frigid night air, the Ferryman opens the chest at the bottom of the boat, and puts on his robes. Much better.

Still rather undecided about leaving, he passes time with mental mathematics...

A triangle would still hold true to Pythagoras's theorem, even if it were twice larger.

He rises again - It's probably a good time to get out of the boat.

On the shore, there is a thinking-machine; one of the natives seems to be consulting it.

The Ferryman motions for the passengers, first, to ascend the dock-steps.

Descartes should summon some more mathematicians and have a party. Protagoras sees this and calls some of his philosopher friends. Time for a rap battle!

First up: Benoit Mandelbrot vs. Immanuel Kant!
Next is: Archimedes vs. Frederich Wilhelm Nietzsche!
For the team battle: The Incredible RSA (Rivest-Shamir-Adleman) vs. The Eastern Block (Confucius, Lao Tzu, and Huineng)!
And the finale, the match you've all been waiting for!

SIR! ISAAC! NEWTON! VS SOCRATES!!!

WHO WILL WIN!??!?!?!?

RE: ΠΥΡΓΑΤΟΡΗ
I mention that if one drew a triangle on a ball it's angles actually end up being over 180 degrees and ask him if he thinks that that triangle would actually hold to the Pythagorean Theorem.

Though the triangle would probably change a lot if you doubled it's size depending on the size of sphere of course.

... if that makes sense.

The ferryman takes his silver and his glass beads and begins to make himself acquainted with his future customers. He asks where the City Council is situated, as well as inquiring as to whether anyone is willing to sell some building materials. Being a newcomer to this city, he has yet to set up an office or register his occupation with the city council. Better to tell someone with authority, as he learned the hard way.

The fox-faced stranger explains spherical geometry to the Ferryman.

The Ferryman considers hyperbolic geometry.

He gets out of the boat and leaves the others behind.

There is a bear waiting for him on the shore. He shakes its hand.

Protagoras, following in his relativist and sophist ways, preaches a new philosophy to equate communication across all self-formed methods of knowing.

The Ferryman sets up.

The sky is filled with tentacles.

Attempted creation of The Guillotine.

Attempted creation of tripartite skirmish (6 units).

Attempted creation of Ancient Stone-Walled Castle.

Attempted summoning of Raqillovawrishraka.

You find yourself on a field of stone, heated to a dull red color.

Have you been here before? Where were those natives? Who were those natives?

...Natives?

Nevertheless, you praise the act of just living at all.

(Then you try to eat your rags, and find just how horrible they are.)

The ground shudders, but nothing really seems to happen.

Until in the distance, a geyser erupts, bursting water into the air.

You remind yourself not to daydream.

Reminding yourself of what you have done is no way to go about your work.

There are more important things than that.

There is a map on the ground.

You pick it up. The destination is about five spans down-road.

The path crunches beneath your feet. Autumn, you muse, smells of change this time around. Not of death.

The road to the city is surprisingly out of repair, from all the mud that's getting into it.

When you finish your task, Talk to the man. He is your leader. The insurrection, yes? The people are tired, and he is their only guide.

Their warrior. They are all warriors. With cunning, the masters of this land are cruel and thus must be put out like flame.

They make you only wear wool while they adorn themselves in the sickly silk. It must be blood. Your brave blood spilt upon that silk to show them their tyranny as your blade will whip across their necks in great battle.

The meeting. You must discuss these thoughts at the eventual meeting taking place in the evening. You will Talk to the man.
