RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
*cant tell if award or naw^^^^^*

Anyways, i was gonna say, about safekeeper. You could have them give out a bulletproof vest. Upon death, or.

They can give out the bulletproof vest, at the cost of their activation for the rest of the game.

Ex: Safekeeper thinks they will die that night. Use let's say 3 credits (instead of normal 2) to give out a bulletproof vest.

If they die, great didnt waste anything. hopefully you vested a townie.

If you dont die. well, mafia get's an edge, now dont they. But that can allow you to play into a few other strategies i guess. The vest would work like a normal vest, you get spared from one nightkill hit. Lynching will still kill you.

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Hmm...that makes me wonder if we might be able to get some more interesting decisions by allowing players to spend more credits for an upgraded version of their ability (e.g. Investor rolecops, Director kill fails if target is town, Assassin doesn't suicide). Might be overcomplicated and/or make townies not use their abilities though...

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Crackpot idea: replace Donor with an amplifier role for that.

That being said, amplification roles bring about a lot of complex balance and gameplay issues in design terms (I remember there was a bit of discussion regarding this with the Travelers in Witchhunt Proper) I'm not sure if I want to sift through for the sake of making this game hilariously complicated.

I could also just link Dersehunt 4 and use that as an argument against amplifications in a serious-ish game.

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Eeeeeugh, an amplifier role in an actual balanced setup would likely just make things extra complicated.
I dont think Dersehunt is really a model hunt, lol.

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
How much better/worse do you think individual players being able to basically purchase an amplification would credits would be? (The idea is it leads to interesting individual choices rather than being a largely mixed bag of random scenario chaos)

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Amplification is just too arbitrary in general.
Too many low chance cases involved.

Technically speaking, dC's suggestion is exactly what credits do. They give a new power vaguely related to the old power on a temporary basis.

If you consider the passive aspect the base role, the active becomes the amp.

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
That's still giving a large number of roles brand new powers for the sake of filling in a new role.
It's going to make the game more confusing.

I wasn't defending it, merely stating that there's already an effective amp mechanic.

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Credithunt roles are already a bit complicated for my tastes and I would probably try to simplify the roles before making them more complicated.

Is this still going to happen? >_> <_<

Oh, and thanks for the excellent game if I haven't thanked you already.

Also I guess I should link the "private" QT I made for myself: http://www.quicktopic.com/51/H/bw8kBFxuHtKcP

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Yeah, I will not pursue a later amplifier mechanic. Would make things way too messy, and I feel the purchase role power system's a good limiter.

I'll state the goal I had in mind for Credithunt: I wanted to make a game that's compact but has plenty of complexity to make the game interesting, replayable, and fun to look at and try out new strategies. I'm working on keeping the power balance as is because I like how this game in particular played out, but making the lower-interaction roles more engaging.

And yeah, awards. It'll take some time since I want to give players good recognition, but I don't want to give awards like "you died first" since that isn't very good representation of the positive impact every player had in the game. Plus college kinda stinks, so that eats up my time.

Soon ™.

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
tbh, only rewards i want to see are:

"role master: [insert name] " 'made the best of their role'

"most elusive mafia: [name]" 'The one who got away'

"scummiest town: [name] " 'You really messed up this time'

but hey, that's just me mspa

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Well to be fair it wasn't exactly your fault it fell apart (also generally you should have made a weaker argument for pE being scum because everything you said did make sense from a logically paranoid PoV, especially if you found out Sidekick activated).

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Well I more mean you set up the most important things, namely that mechanically pE wasn't confirmed assassin (since scum could claim upon knowing town made a bad shot), plus you pointed out reaverb didn't make any sense as a target.

I mean if pE hadn't been acting like scum maybe you would have been fine, but he did and so there weren't many reasons to not buy the theory.

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Well, the other thing is that given all that I couldn't even entirely discount scum!pE myself. This is more or less why I eventually came around to a no lynch, because I believed if we were at LYLO we were probably screwed anyway and we'd be forcing the foreclosure to resolve without causing a loss or getting another Inspector result. (Plus it was going to solve the issue with you and your 8-credit townfirm role).

As it turns out the result would have been mM and Quinny vs. Kiven, amusingly, due to pE's second assassination and Visceral's role being known. Still.

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
You both have screennames starting with S, P appears in the first 3 letters of your names, as does e in 4, and the middle of the names have either a c or a k, which sound fairly similar.

ch. Not c. Makes a completely different sound. 4 syllables vs 2. I'm an auditory reader, though, so you might read it differently. /offtopic

I've found an easy thing to notice is that Kiven has capitals and speed does not.

(Also it's probably only the way I read your play styles that's similar, because I'm bad at reading like that).

Probably later in the week. Had a surprisingly productive Sunday, so that's a start.

Also I gotta make sure I give good awards, and that requires carefully reading the game again. I want players to feel good about their accomplishments, you know?

RE: Credithunt [Mafia Wins!]
Interesting bit of parellel evolution I stumbled upon: http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php...9-GAME-END

That game had "tokens" which were pretty much the same as Credits in this game.

It was based on the old tri-fraction witchhunt setup instead of tinyhunt.
