NIGHT 5: How Is There Still Traffic?

The road is thinning, you notice. As you unceremoniously escort speedchuck off the road, you feel this whole ordeal finally coming to a close. Not now, but very soon. But wow, the wreckage is getting really tall.

speedchuck's role:

You are driving a LIMOUSINE. It is your job to drive around the rich, the famous, and the snobby. You've spent a long time doing this job, and you're kind of tired of it. Nobody ever notices you, they only notice the people inside your limo. You can't lie, it's kind of nice not being the center of attention, but it does get boring after a while. At least it never gets lonely, those celebrities are always willing to chat. You are a TOWN CHAUFFEUR, and you must select one target each night. All actions directed towards you fail, but all actions directed towards your target will also be done upon you.

You are aligned with the TOWN, and you win when you have eliminated all the members of the the MAFIA.

Night ends in like... 54 hours? probably sooner cause theres so few of you left.

DAY 6: Nervous Conditions

You wake up, fully expecting to smell smoke. But what's this? The road is clear. There are only a few of you left on it. But, for some reason, you can't seem to move your vehicle. Well, great. At least nobody seems to have been rammed off last night.

Day will end on Sunday, May 31, at 12:00 AM EST -5. Hard lynch is 3. IT IS MYLO.

According to my Horn Sense ™, nobody targeted Acio last night. That or Mirdini has betrayed the truce.

Make of that what you will. More later today.

Vote: Yuiop

This game has been going too slow lately, I think it's time to liven things up a little.

Mirdini, Tehpilot: Don't you agree that town has had it a little bit too easy this game? What do you say about making things a bit harder for them? They can't actually force you to vote with them anymore. They lack enough members to actually lynch someone on their own, and they have no roles left that can kill us or interfere with our night actions in any way. Join me and together we can turn this game into the ultimate shitshow! Embrace the YOLO, you know you want to!

Wait are you telling me you would have actually voted for Yuiop? Didn't you say last Day that Speed and me were the only scum that made sense? I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. This is the same game where everyone completely missed how Amos' role completely destroys the D1 alibi I've been relying on all game long. and when Speed finally caught on 19 days after the fact (though he seems to have gotten Amos mixed up with DC) everyone responded by lynching him. instead of me.

RE: Traffic Jam Mafia [5/16] (DAY 6: Nervous Conditions)

GAME END: Clear Cruisin'

As your numbers diminish, it is now easier to see who is riding a motorcycle. You all look at Druplesnubb, who is indeed riding one. Shrugging, you tell her to get off the road. She laughs maniacally, however.

"That's right! The last member of the Biker Gang was me! Lucky Lucy! The game may be over, but I have successfully wasted 6 days for you, and wrecked all of these cars! Now, before you celebrate, consider this. Have you really won? Well, peace out."

As she walks off, she looks into the sky.

"Sorry, Getofftheroad. I tried."

Getofftheroad suddenly appeared, on his giant celestial motorcycle, and speaks to you all.

"Congrats, you four. You have won this game. But at what cost?"

The rest of you just shrug and celebrate. Road trip!

This was Druplesnubb's role:

You are LUCKY LUCY, and you are driving a MOTORCYCLE. You're in this biker gang, see, and you're also the big boss's girlfriend. This tends to give you special privileges, and you're not afraid to flaunt it over the other gang members. The truth is, you used to be in medical school before dropping out to run with the big boss. So, you are the MAFIA DOCTOR. Each night, you can select one other player, and that target will be protected from all kills. This protection cannot be redirected. The other thing is, each of you has a special oneshot kill. If you are chosen to make the kill, you cannot use your regular doctoring power, but your oneshot kill would allow you to do both in one night.

You are aligned with the MAFIA, and you win when your team outnumbers the TOWN.

But wait! What's this? There's these two guys arguing. Apparently one of them got others more angry than the other? The other guy shuffles off, defeated. Only one of them will be joining you on the road trip. That one is... Mirdini!

Mirdini - 7 points
TehPilot - 3 points

GAME OVER

TOWN AND MIRDINI WIN!

This was Acionyx's role:

You are driving an OSCAR MAYER WIENERMOBILE. Your car is easily the most ridiculous of all these cars, and you love it! Everywhere you go, people look at you. Some cheer, some point and laugh, but you love the attention either way. Otherwise, you would just be a boring old man. But, while you're in this car, you're transformed into the MIGHTY WIENERMAN! You are a TOWN HOT DOG GIVER, and each night, you can give a hot dog to another person. This hot dog won't actually do anything other than let them know they have received a hot dog. However, you will be informed of who ended up with it, if anybody at all.

You are aligned with the TOWN, and you win when you have eliminated all the members of the the MAFIA.

This was yuiop's role:

You are driving a POLICE CAR. It is your duty to patrol the busy streets, on the lookout for streetscum. However, you are off duty, so your car sits comfortably in the midst of traffic. Honestly, you don't think you could get out even if you turned your sirens on. So, what can you do? Why, investigate people, of course! And eat donuts, and lie comfortably in your seat knowing nobody would dare cross you. You are a TOWN COP, and you can choose one player each night to investigate. They will come up as innocent, meaning town, or guilty, meaning scum.

You are aligned with the TOWN, and you win when you have eliminated all the members of the the MAFIA.

This was both TehPilot's and Mirdini's role:

You are THAT ONE ANNOYING GUY WHO BEEPS THEIR HORN CONSTANTLY. This traffic jam has you infuriated! And all these people are wasting their, and your, time accusing each other! God, what a bunch of idiots! You are a THIRD PARTY LIGHTNING ROD, and each night, you can beep your horn at another person. This irritates everyone else in the area, drawing their actions towards you. However, being the masochist you are, their fury only excites you. All night actions on that target fail tonight, and you gain a point for each action. There is another lightning rod in this game; the one with the most points at the end of the game (dead or alive) wins. (Both lose on ties.) If a lightning rod targets the other lightning rod, they steal any points the other lightning rod is getting that night. If both lightning rods target each other, this does not apply. Also, you do not count towards overrun.

You are a THIRD PARTY, and your win condition has been described above.

"Have some wine," the March Hare said in an encouraging tone.

DC's failscum corner:
- Jumping off a scum onto another scum in a way that made it look like I was trying to get a townie mislynched instead of my bus target because I was thinking about the result when Druple died, not the fact that nobody else would vote for him (I actually thought I'd saved this one since the only reason we didn't lynch reaverb was that end-of-day effort to get Amos killed, but it wasn't enough for CB :/)

- Not requesting doc that night

- Something else I can't quite remember right now :V

RE: Traffic Jam Mafia (TOWN WIN)
But yeah this game is an example of why nonsense bussing is terrible. It ultimately didn't give any fantastic townfirms to anyone; the main thing it did was weaken the standing of less-active-but-still-on-scumlynch players (and you can still push mislynches on those anyways)

Like, druple vs amos should not have been a thing once you lost the rolecop and if you hadn't all piled on DC (and therefore made your willingness to bus super obvious) then druple would likely have been completely eliminated from the running for final scum.

The end of day two could have cut a day off the game entirely (with +1 scum and -1 town) if you had worked even one semi-plausible mislynch alternative to consider when I had second thoughts on druple but you guranteed that I (and anyone who didn't build a lynch from the ground up at least) couldn't miss.

RE: Traffic Jam Mafia (TOWN WIN)
I'm really kinda surprised at how well we did this game, considering how stacked the deck was against town from the start. This game is forever going to be the go-to example of why you don't bus your teammates for absolutely no good reason.

(The biggest problems were with the third parties though, which provided way too much random swing factor into a game that was already super night-action heavy.)

Also this game should have ended on Night 4 when I shot Druple, but Garuru decided that simultaneous kills don't exist for this game only for some reason? Oh well, we still won in the end anyway.

RE: Traffic Jam Mafia (TOWN WIN)
Yeah there were problems here.
Day two really should have been a mylo announcement - it was entirely possible that town would lose that day. (lynching mirdini would have been a loss unless CB hit a scum, since reaverb could/should have jointed with scum by voting nolynch and having them burn their non-kill stuff on whatever is required to give him points, while killing a town. and if mirdini got shot, scum would have known to offer...)

"very powerful town" + "too many scum" is awful, and every so often we have relearn the lesson. :\

also: wow, my role. That was a well-timed nerf although it would have been hilariously dumb on my part when I whiffed it.

still. very pleased with the fact I prevented CB from being lynched as an SK, because /you know/ he was going to be lynched as an SK without that.

My favorite thing was that scum collectively could've softlynched D1

Also my crazy-ass theory about bussing shenanigans (the role kind of bussing) being actually kind of close to what was really happening (but not close enough to catch on to Druple, sadly)

Moral victory as well, and sorry I couldn't find it in me to get invested in the game. Replacing in during finals week takes a lot of out a man - at the very least, I tried to use my action to help town out and made sure a slot wasn't 100% inactive.

Goomba falling apart so blatantly day one wasn't really fun even if it helped town and the DC/Beru one-two punch of no-effort lynches was a thing too

Overall I think that the speed that scum died combined with a majority of players not actually having to work to secure those deaths destroyed any urgency in the game and wasn't super rewarding. Throw in a lot of town/nonscum being able to confirm themselves and there wasn't room for screwups to restore the feeling that there was any threat.

That's my take on it at least. It probably would have been more fun if we'd spent a day screwing up after the amos lynch rather than getting two more scum on a silver platter.

Yeah, I had a lot of fun seeing how long I could last and if I could get the 3ps to join me, but I can see how this wouldn't be very fun from town's side of things. Or for the rest of the scumteam who got eliminated so early, for that matter. or for the 3ps who had to claim so early, pretty much destroying the point of their roles. Actually, I'm not sure how many besides me actually had fun by the end of this game, besides PE apparently.

Really hard not to bus your teammates when they are Goomba and Ika, the former dropping the game for reasons I explained were bad in game and the latter not actually having any desire to post. Seriously, check scumchat. Oz and Druple are so much more tolerable. No, people who want to play the game are so much more tolerable.

Re: D1 DC argument I literally didnt understand his counterargument. It wasnt orchestrated but more or less just happened. I think he was just getting a kick out of it..?

And then of course theres like 5ish protectives, speedchuck being difficult to kill (targeting scum) and an assload of self confirmings including a scientist. We had numbers, but we may as well have been playing against a brick wall.

I bickered about it in Observer if you're interested.

RE: Traffic Jam Mafia (TOWN WIN)
I'm not sure why Amos targeted me Day 2, I assume he thought that my townfirm was broken by Acio arguing against it and wanted to jump on before it looked bad to do so. As for me targeting Amos, I simply had no other guy I could make a case on (and even then my case against Amos wasn't very strong). I didn't expect that thing to grow into an actual lynchwagon. It wasn't until later on that I realized that Amos flipping would basically spell the end of my townfirm (if town actually paid attention) and then I flat out asked Beruru and DC in scumchat to hammer me before Amos, since I was gonna die anyway after Amos flipped. Needless to say, that backfired terribly.

I think that was mostly the fact that nobody was paying too much attention to the game. Otherwise they would have at least mentioned that dC's role had nothing to do with Druple's (or assumed you were talking about them using his role to fake a doc save, which is a thing they kind of did anyway.)

I think the idea was to use it to avoid NK's and cop checks. Also, a scum can get away with having a role that makes them nigh unkillable at night because they can always get lynched instead.

Could we get observerchat here?
