RE: Campfire (Off-Topic Chat)
Treestump is a (generally) town role that can give up their night action (if they have one) and ability to vote for immortality
There's some variants but that's basically it They can't be lynched, can't be shot, NK'd, etc. Positives are that you have a confirmed townie that can't die Negatives are that you technically have one less townie and mylo/lylo is that much closer |

RE: Campfire (Off-Topic Chat)
"RDM" stands for "Random deathmatch"
The tree in this case is I am 90% sure a thing you can shoot in the Trouble in Terrorist Town map ttt_minecraft that kills anyone near it. Trouble in Terrorist Town is an FPS-style gamemode within Garry's Mod where a quarter of the players are marked as "Traitors" and have to kill off everyone else before they themselves are done in. 22 people is probably way too high for the current playerbase, I'm shocked paranoia's game has reached 21. (also no replacements)
Do you mean wh1 spy? I wouldn't recommend, the only game with spy witches have ever won anywher across 11+ games and three sites was the one the spy got random sacrificed N1 for being afk. |

Modern wh halftime rules are probably the best implementation of spy-like mechanics but would require severe modification to run in a reasonably sized game.

Third party spy joints with town= easy way to screw scum out of a game.
Try 'Mastermind' from EpicMafia maybe. |

RE: Campfire (Off-Topic Chat)
Mastermind is kinda a dick move to scum team.
I mean you could easily deduce who was who in the scum chat and that way prevent the team kill, it isnt like EM where you have 1 minute to discuss You would have to give the mastermind some sort of protection, not to mention mastermid typically denies scum team a win if theyre alive by end game, which makes scums job teice as hard Overall its a third party role that counts towards scum, wins in place of a scum win if alive, and prohibits communication slightly Its like the autocrat role in EM, third party that wins in place of town win. Ooh i just had a
Low PR setup where you elect someone for a oneshot nightkill during the day. If you give it to scum, they get a double nightkill (provided they have two different people alive) and the oneshot expires if the following day if you dont use it. An open setup would be good for it i think It's time to, T-T-T-T-T-T TRIPLE POST |

RE: Campfire (Off-Topic Chat)
There was a open-setup game once with three factions:
Villagers (town) Witches (scum, EXCEPT) Lich and his Phylactery. The phylactery was a randomly-selected witch who did not know who the lich was but did know they were the phylactery and who the witches were. the lich was mostly-invincible while his phylactery was alive, knew who his phylactery was, and didn't know the other witches. He also had oblits. the only instance of the game that ran, town won, mostly due to a pair of OP roles crashlanding into OPness. (mad scientist and diviner) but that structure is at least a thing you could do. it was apparently deemed unfun for the poor phylactery, though. |

I mean more along the lines of a role that is an anonymous member in the chat and is known to be the mastermind. Would likely have a useful ability, but doesnt really need protection.

RE: Campfire (Off-Topic Chat)
actually the role idea was "a town sided 3p (counts towards number of town alive but pings as 3p) that can read mafia chat and wins if they can shoot the mafia boss specifically (has one shot and auto-reveals on its use), but mafia chat is anonymous", tbh
conversely the boss was "knows the identity of everyone in mafia chat and is aware there's a spy, but doesnt know their roles, also he has message powers" scum would also have an alignment checker who is aware the spy pings as 3p also this isn't a witchhunt, people would flip [note: the spy doesn't win with town] |

There are several awkward problems with making night chat anonymous, there needs to be a robust set of rules against codes and ciphers to make it even sort of work, and there will inevitably be grey areas because the mafia are encouraged to use whatever cipher/code like construct which remain legal. That third-party role sounds both extremely hard to win with and the win condition doesn't seem engaging. |

RE: Campfire (Off-Topic Chat)
shrug
it was an off the top of the head idea in the first place wrt mafia chat, only the boss would be aware of the identity of any of the other players anyway. there's no point in ciphers in an anonymous chat when only one person knows the identity of the others. you need at least one other person to have a cipher. |

RE: Campfire (Off-Topic Chat)
Shank-A-Bitch 3 and it's totally possible to run ciphers in an anonymous chat if one person knows all their buddies. It'd take effort but if you threw together a key based off of rare ids or ancient post numbers and threw in a few false trail notes to nonscum I think you could find a way to communicate that's difficult for the spy to crack.

He said, deciding against taking random pages and photoshopping on TS Elliot's face and matching quotes where applicable. Haven't actually read the comic though, much less have the time to justify that work. Part of me wants to dive in and check out the hype but another part of me is saying 'Pala you can barely handle the few webcomics you keep updated on now and honestly you have way more shit you should be doing instead already'. |
