That's the spirit.

Does anyone have a need for this game to wait before it begins? Some date you cannot play before?

I am completely ready to start as soon as everyone confirms.

I'm still going to be busy for about the next month and a half, but not so busy that I shouldn't be able to follow a 13 player game for awhile. I'm also okay with whenever.

RE: Insomniac Mafia [13/13] - Waking soon, could use replacements!
Day One

My name is Vizno Krummer. Ten days ago, I was sworn in as a deputy of a small town. Lowers is the name of the place. I've been trying for years to get in with law enforcement, and it just really isn't all it's cracked up to be. Justice, the ideal I've held to all my life, has a hell of a hangover.

So, Lowers. It's been one week since the body turned up on the steps of the police department. A note stuck on his chest, saying "Guilty"! I'm not saying that the dead man wasn't guilty, but wow, did that piss off the wrong people.

Every night since then, one of the more productive townspeople have kicked the bucket. One by one, starting with the Sheriff and the only other deputy. That's right, I am alone. Alone and powerless against a vengeful underground group.

Those that tried to leave the town had their cars blow up with them inside. It was a grisly sight. I can still smell their burning flesh. Nobody leaves, and we're so far out that nobody is coming for us either. Those that remain are holed up in their homes. That is, everyone but the town commitee.

They're depending on me, crying out to me for justice. I have no idea what to do. I'm a captive like them, held in the hand of the Lowers Mafia gang.

Perry comes running up to me, sweating up a storm. His eyes have thick bags under them. Nobody's slept much in the past week. We're all running on fumes. How can I sleep? I'm the only one stationed at the court office, waiting for my death. Nobody else is going to watch my back. Nobody but Perry.

"Viz, they're forming a mob," Perry gasps, his hands on his knees. "They blame you. What are you going to do?"

"Hmph," I mutter. I saw this coming days ago, and I have an answer, as much as I hate it. "Open the doors."

"But Viz, they'll kill you," Perry says.

"Open them. I know what I'm doing."

Perry nods and runs off. Sighing, I push myself to my tired feet and walk out from behind my desk for the last time. Perry cares. He manned the radio for the town, and has been making announcements concerning the tragedy that has befallen us. In all of it, he's never blamed the lawmen, no matter how much we might deserve it.

As I walk into the main hall, the large court doors open. Thirteen people rush in, yelling accusations at me.

"You killed us all!"

"What are you doing?"

"Save us!"

"Do your job!"

Worthless tripe. If my job is so easy, they can do it. Before they can reach me, I grab my badge and rip it from my shirt, pulling my life's dreams from me. It's not like I could become the man I want to be now. I wind up and toss the badge, giving it my best baseball pitch, and it lands on the floor behind the crowd. They quiet down as it bounces on the linoleum floor.

"Look at us," I say. "We're sleepless, hopeless curs without any outside support. Not me, all of us!"

The crowd looks at me expectantly, and I see Perry standing behind them, worried. I might die here. Straightening up and looking down at the people, I continue my speech.

"You are all right. The law has done nothing for you in all of this. In fact, I say right now, as the last holdout, the law is dead! Anarchy will decide this. Majority rules. We're going to have a lynching."

The crowd roared, but I moved my hands to die it down. They continued to listen, hope dawning on them. Peh. Hope. This is nothing but my attempt at survival. Mine alone. Many of them will die.

"Beginning today, we will lynch one person each day. We will throw them in these jail cells, and kill them if they resist! Majority decides!"

"But we're innocent!" one man cried.

"They you won't be the one lynched," I reply smoothly. "The fact of the matter is that I've done the research. Some of you are guilty of the seige on this town!" Lies. "I've narrowed it down!" Blatant lies. "We will have a proceeding here and now. Every day, one lynch. There are more of us than of them! And once we find the guilty parties..." I lower my voice. "We uncover and crush the Mafia!"

Some of the crowd cheer listlessly, but some also look doubtful. I don't care. I step down and walk through them to Perry.

"What are you doing?" he asks.

"Staying alive. I am completely serious. Can you tally votes and announce the results?"

"But I-"

"CAN YOU!?"

"Yes, I can. I'll try," he says.

"Good. Let's move into the courtroom." I turn around and usher people towards the room. They slowly move in, barely able to stand. Nobody has gotten much sleep these days. As we walk in, I start up a couple of coffee machines. Someone is about to get 'lynched', and I'm not even on the table. I will survive today.

"Let's start the accusations!" I yell, then sag into the judge's chair. The people slump into chairs and begin to raise their voices at each other. A grim smile crosses my face.

I'm no longer a deputy. I'm just getting drunk on this town's brand of justice.

I guess I'll try to get us out of RVS, maybe this time without revealing stuff about my role and misunderstanding the impact of doing so. Not that this role is worth knowing about, I have once again been foiled in my quest to finally be on a scumteam for the first time in like 3 goddamn years.

GX's post paraphrased: "RVS sucks, and so does my own role and alignment. I'm bored."

Nothing here is vitally important, except maybe for the fact that scum don't usually like to talk about their own roles super early on because it closes off potential escape routes down the line.

Menawhile, Vancho leverages this complete non-issue to jump on GX and immediately starts trying to pry out a role claim from him.

DC's disinterested bandwagon hopping is also weird for them, but I'm not going to pretend to have any idea about whatever goes on in DC's head on D1.

I don't believe coding messages by way of codewords violates the rule.

Like, say, assume it is agreed that if the phrase "That was me complaining, not claiming a role, you dorks" comes before "nevertheless, I really just want to be able to lie without screwing over my side" in a post, I am saying that I visited you and fell asleep on your couch.

"Well you got us out of RVS, but not in the way you intended!"

Also GX's comment read a little like "yes hi I am town I am thinking about how to do town things to help town"

(didn't want to say anything until it had been established that we'd gotten out of RVS)

Hrm, well, I suppose I read that post a little differently than you did, since I thought it was teasing at something. Anyway, just a bit miffed about GX talking about role stuff and being all vague about it. I mean, c'mon, sometimes roles tend to suck, jeez, don't have to go "well let's get us out of rvs by me saying my role sucks, also that's it, I guess we're out of rvs what do"

Anyway, I guess you're suggesting that someone visit you and you'll visit them, Granolaman? If that is what your little wii sports thing is about. I will consider it, still need to decide what I'll do with my visit.

Codewords seem kind of sketchy to me, I mean, how will people exchange codewords if they don't have a means of communication beforehand? Unless you mean to use the tempmason as a key exchange, but that sort of secret information sharing seems a bit suspicious to me.

The one, the only, Vancho!
